I did this yesterday. Props to SuperP for some tips on brushes, paint and technique. I still need practice, but it's coming easier, now.

Simple gold-leaf and black pinstripe outline over raw steel on a wicked-looking little tank that my client fabbed himself by cutting about a foot of material out of the center of a wide-assed H-D tank. Apologies for the crappy cell-phone pic... but you get the idea!
