Yup the spring box I found this hub original to this 6t only needed to be lubed up.
So I put it in the Bullard vertical lathe at work and cleaned out old grease with popsicle stinks and packed Moly grease in the best I could working the box up and down. See post 17
I also found the bearings once cleaned in kerosene to be in great shape no pitting of and kind so repacked those with Napa red grease.

Like you I think the fiber mag drive gear is a great design

I was able to get out after work yesterday for a eleven mile shake down run went much more smoothly than my first go.

Finished up my ammeter/Killswitch mount awhile back

Got out of the back roads after work smiles for miles.

On our way up to Humboldt,Iowa to watch some bike drags love me some Nitromethane.
Found a couple missing parts for my 6T @ Baxter Cycle in Marne,Iowa can't wait to get these fitted.

Well true to what I had in mind after my 51 6T
was finished up.
My 57 TR6 was next on the lift just didn't think it was going to be 11years....
Couple weeks back I got the ole girl out for a bath probably been 30 plus years since that had taken place.


Little bit of simple green and water cut the grime pretty well.

Some more progress has been made gonna go stockish with this build gotta get rid of that rattle can purple.
P/O did a number on the spacer also they added a lock washer to the assembly in-between sprocket and OEM spacer.

Come across a product called quick-glo recommend by [email protected] Bonneville Shop tried test spot on the ole rims shined up nicely.

Rebuilt the amal 389's

Berryman carb dip did the trick soaked em a couple hours each carb






All bagged up waiting on their turn to breathe again.

Was able to monkey with the generator P/O oversized drilled and installed a helicoil the mounting bolt hole goes all the way thu end bracket 👎.

Went ahead and cleaned up commutator and brushes she motored fine👍
Have a de end bracket and bearing retaining plate in route will get bearings and seal lock tab washer so I can rebuild it.


Further into the clean up teardown missing timing cover screws.

Matching belly numbers sweet missing the mag drive gear tho
Major plus the magneto is a competition model it tingled my fingers when I gave it a spin so hopefully it'll spark

Heads look great hopefully just a valve lap will get em in working order.
Got the timing gears and pinion removed bagged n tagged.

Some updates above photo show 70-0375 spindle backwards oil passage is outward to cover now..

I must have knocked it loose getting the timing gearcase cover off I had just put the spindle back before I split cases.
I measured the hole it's about a zero fit until the inboard.
When I installed the spindle this time gave it a smack with my palm a couple of times it's in there won't pull out by hand.


Was able to get some parts cleaned up enough to mic out still need to split crank and clean out the sludge.
Ran a ball hone down the jugs to shine em up a bit to see what I was up against.



Bores are perfect
Everything mic'd out within spec crank big ends are - .010.

Now onto cleaning the rest of parts up and teardown forks and rear swingarm.
