Here is a youtube find! Cycles South, filmed in 1971. Starts off with brit bikes, ends up on japs, but what an adventure! Lil bit of nudity and Mary Jane consumption, but hey, it was 1971! Pretty epic ride, Denver to the Panama Canal.

This reminds me of a story an oldtimer told me. In the late sixties him and his friend bought 2 new Bonnevilles at the factory in England. They then took a ferry to Skandinavia and rode around Sweden.
Now Sweden and the rest of Europe are divided by the Baltic sea. They got drunk and bought tickets to a ferry to west germany but boarded the ferry to East Germany.
The next day as the ferry arrived they were in Communist East Germany without a Visa and no knowledge of the german language.
As you can imagine hillarity ensued since they thought they arrived in the west and just took off on their bikes and left the communist border soldiers with a "Fuck You we won the war".
It ended as you can imagine....But they did get back to the west with their bikes.
