got an 84 flht and she leaks where the chain cover bolts to the back of the motor.I want to drain the chain lube system and remove the cover and just lube it myself. has anyone done this? what is the easiest way to do this? The bike is running a 2004 evo reman. instead of the 84 evo bottom breather it came with thanks.

The wheel bearing is lubed with the same oil. If you drain it then the bearing must be packed with grease and sealed somehow. I haven't done that, but the chain boots are not terribly hard to get to seal up. It's the wheel seal that is hard. The trick to the boots is to not tighten the bolts until the rubber spooges out.

I took mine off when it leaked, it was torn so I just ditched it.
Ran it as a open chain drive
that was around 90
If I remember the rear wheel had packed bearings anyway,
If you are just wondering if you can run it open, glad to help
If not, sorry, no help here
