I just changed the battery on my 1984 FXE and noticed that the brake light isn't working. I changed the bulb (2057) and I still don't have any brake lights. It's weird too because the tail light looks very bright, as if the brake lights are on and there is no tail light? I would think that if the circuit breaker was bad there would be no tail or brake light? I can't see both brake light switches going at the same time either. Everything else is working fine and I'm stumped.

I went through that crap a month ago. Everything worked before I put it away for the winter. After changing light bulb couple of times and checking all the wire connections, nothing. Then for no go reason it's working again, so I'm stumped too.

I just pulled the wires from the rear switch and the light went back to being a tail light. The front switch works and lights up the brake light as it should. I guess when the rear switch went bad it kept the brake light on all the time? Hopefully that's the case and I'll get a new one tomorrow?

Just jump the wires together off the brake light switch and if the light goes on when ya do the switch is bad.
