Have a question, hopefully someone can help me out!! I'm rebuilding another 84 fxst and i put the high tensile cylinder studs in and they are male unlike the stock original studs which are female. My question is the head bolts are larger in diameter 1/2" due to them being female and the stock head bolts and through holes in the head are 3/8", would it be ok to just machine the through holes to 1/2" so the new head bolts will go through?? The screaming eagle studs say on the package that they will work from 84 on... thx in advance!!

That will work....

Check the thread contact so as they do not bottom out on the studs...
May need to use the thick washers that the early heads had..???

the spacers that came with the head bolts which say are for 86 on are thick like the early spacers were.. I check the thickness for sure. There seems to be a bunch of material around the holes so i don't think it will be a big deal...
