Hey, I've been searching around for info on engine numbers and haven't found anything. Anyone know a site that has the info to decipher these numbers?

Theres some incorrect info on that link:

on the #'s after 1970 it says the second to last digit on the right (H) refers to manufacturer ie H= Harley and the last # is the year.
in this case the "H" refers to 7 & the first # of the year (decade) and the last # is the second # of the year or in this case "1970" Harley started with 0 in the number system and A in the lettering but shipped "I" because it looked too much like the number"1"
so:
A=0
B=1
C=2
D=3
E=4
F=5
G=6
H=7 1970'S
J=8 1980'S
K=9 1990"S

I've never made that connection, H=the 7th letter of the alphabet. It's astounding that a site purporting to document HD VINs would not know that H=1970's and J=1980s.

Astounding??
You are very naive to think that most, or any of the information put out there is correct or researched. But then, not unlike this site!!:rolleyes:
