I'm having a "discussion" with someone on cooling . Specifically, drilling holes in metal to increase surface area. He says leaving the the material intact will cool better because the piece will have more mass and greater thermal capacity. I say properly sized holes(not to excede the thickness of the material) will increase surface area thus increacing cooling capacity. Who is right? Thanks for the info.

both are correct and wrong. more surface area vs. more material. age old question. I'd opt to not drill. I like Alpine lace, just not on a motor.
