Late 60s I'd say about 68 because that's in front of his apparent
My step father always told stories about riding with this MC in the 60s and 70s. His name was Robert Wafford, or Crazy Robert. He left Houston in the 80s or so.

I'm glad this post is back. At least it is about chopper history than the brit bike restorations and bikes nobody has ever heard of.

Nobody!
I'm glad this post is back. At least it is about chopper history than the brit bike restorations and bikes nobody has ever heard of.
I'm the guy that posted Brit bike builds (a 62 Triumph engine rebuild series in 2005 and a 66 BSA rebuilding in 2023).

Here's why I thought it pertinent to this forum:
  • shows skills needed to build choppers . . . wiring, welding, planning, gear setups, bracketry, tuning, etc
  • helps break down fear of unknown or taking on large projects for those that are newer or are hesitant to get started
  • bikes are bikes when it comes to fixing or modifying them . . . stock or chopper still runs the same engines and wheels
And another reason I posted the recent BSA thread: This seems like a dying board. I hate to see it wither and wanted to contribute rather than let it go. It takes work to put pics and posts together. If I thought that no one would find it useful, I wouldn't bother.

Maybe I overestimated the value of creating those posts.

I've been silent on this one so far, but feel the need to put in my .02 now.

No Jason, you didn't overestimate the value of them. I would like to point out that this post is being allowed to stand, even though the OP is searching for info on people who have never participated in this forum at all. Not only that, but the OP seems to have joined for the sole reason of searching these people out. One of my threads was deleted simply because I asked if anyone knew anything about the outcome of an old build thread, and the moderator told me it was because I was "stalking" the OP. Apparently MC club history is now preferred over actual motorcycle technical content. I seem to remember a time when it was strictly verboten except in relation to bike design. I guess times do change. Who'd a thunk it?

My threads and posts have been done away with as well, on the grounds that the JJ's focus should be strictly technical. The mod/s didn't want this place to become a "lifestyle" convention. Clearly the definition of "technical" is elastic.

The purge seems to have been successful, though. No more Friday Art, no more Ugly & Funny, etc.; and the lifestyle-obsessed deadwood has drifted away to shallower waters, leaving a committed, dedicated, exclusively techie core group of, what, two dozen members?

Most bikes are interesting to some degree. Especially British bikes. Including the obscure ones.

If you guys want to bitch and complain, please do it outside of the forum. The forum is not a place to discuss removed posts, etc.

This thread is borderline of not being within the scope here, but it's still here for the historical aspect. However, I fully agree with post #9's comments about this thread and what's occurred.

Jason's thread is valuable. He's been a great member here, for a very long time, and is helpful with his knowledge.

The "Friday Art" thread was revived a while back, if there is value, members can keep it going. Correct, this forum is not about lifestyle, it's about tech and fab, I don't think it's that hard to understand that there are plenty of other forums out there for the things people want that are outside of the scope here.
