I got an old 60's helmet, wanted to know what the best way to buff out the mild scuffs. It is in good shape, but wanted to get out some of the light scratches and marks before I stripe it. None of the marks are structural, or go down to the color. Good ol' No. 7 compound in the green can? Or is that too abrasive?
Thanks,
Erron

if it's just grungy i've had good results with fast orange hand cleaner with pumice. i recently cleaned up an old white harley brand half shell using a brillo pad. it was pretty nasty but cleaned up very well. afterwards i gave it a coat of johnsons floor wax.
