ive never owned a brit bike,, dont know much about em as far as interchangeabilty, but i have a norton that a friend is giving me that somone tried to make a chopper out of about 20 years ago, well im going to go the cafe racer route with it so that frame is really no good,, the upper frame has been kinda butchered. Now it seems like its not gonna be easy to find a norton frame for this thing. will the motor fit in a trump frame?

Depends, what model is it? Some 60's models shared frames with Matchless. Later, you might be better of mating up with a BSA frame, as they were more similar with Norton frames, and more stable than Triumph frames.

Its not too hard to find Norton frames, expecially commandos. probably easier to track one down and not fight to make it work in something else.

the jug of a norton engine leans more forward that the other british bikes. for this reason, it may be difficult to get it to fit into another manufacturers frame. i'd stick with trying to find another norton frame or trying to fix the one you've got. it may be as simple as cutting out some added metal and bringing the rake back in to the stock dimension, but with out seeing it, it's hard to say. if you're looking for a norton featherbed frame, be prepared to spend a grand for a frame and swingarm. those things are like friggin gold!
