this is what I did this weekend . . . it is alot more uncomfortable than the small apes I had on there , since the bar is straight ( I didnt have any good bars to put on there so I had to make this one . . . ) I will be using my original z-bars that were on the bike from along time ago . Anyhow thats what I have done today . Top halves of dogbones welded to riser bars , welded to the springer topclamp . smoothe & groovy .

I think you are asking for opinions....... so here goes

I've never been able to live with broomstick bars

they just aren't natural at least not to the hands attached to my wrists attached to my forearms attached to my upper arms attached to my shoulders..... and so on

and that short looks really miserable for riding

if you weren't solicting opinions...... the pardon me

looks like an otherwise cool bike from what little I can see from the pix

just got thru doing some welding myself and gotta head back and so some more

nothing much funner than welding with a 20 thou elctrode and attaching some 40 thou walled stainless

wanna see?

I take pretty decent macro pix

Whats not cool about that?!?
Him sucking on a black strap on. Totally ruined some of his bad ass movies for me....True Romance, Heat, Natural Born Killers....

So are you going to put the Z's on it or is this the final version, minus the new paint?

Yeah , the bars on it right now were just sort of put together so I could ride it around the block . I have some really neat Z-bars that a friend of mine made a while back , and gave me . I am going to put those back on and they have a more natural riding position as far as where your wrist bends . Here is a picture of the actual bars I will be using . Otherwise I think the risers turned out pretty neat , being a messed up frankenstein cobble of parts :) I like the narrow riding stance better than a wide one so in that respect it is more better .

How does she handle with those narrow drag bars?
It is ALOT more responsive , but where as the wider / taller bars had alot of flex and give , you can feel every little quiver and jolt with these bad boys . I wont really know hwo it handles till I get my bars back and take it around the block a few dozen times , but I do like the closer hand position better .

I see them on more bikes than ever today...... but I don't really know anyone that uses a broomstick bike for actual daily transportation

those things wear me out and years ago..... about the only bikes anyone used broomsticks on..... were drag bikes

I couldn't really see enough detail on the risers to tell if they looked good or bad to me..... cool bike.....I dig that old Milwaukee wheel and forks/trees? too

Mike,

Those bars OR the z's look killer. I prefer the T's though, and I have z bars on almost every bike of mine! Especially with the high risers, it might look off when the z-bars are on there. Then again, you never really can go wrong with z's. . .

When are your tins going to 'poon, anyway?

I know couple guys who run them daily , I can't imagine they are to user friendly . I guess you would get used to them eventualy if yo uset your mind to it . You know your'e getting old when you start worrying about the " ergonomics " of your handlebars and your riding posture . . . :)

I like the new bars... It gives the real pissed off look when riding .The more fucked up it looks when riding it, the cooler it is... My 2 cents..
I agree too , the mini apes are super cool , but they are more laidback & day trippin style . The more narrow bars give it a more attitude , which I generaly lack :) makes the bike more agro and dirty feeling .

We are still in the development stages of that deal . He is brain storming on a design and stuff . I figure in a few weeks , or a month or so . . . whenever he has time . Also I need to get my new back fender on the bike & into shape . drill some holes and do some fabricating of some things .
