HD used steel stiffeners in their pistons. I had them in my pan

Your Pan used Bonalites, Carl.

Those are DIXIE's "Superior" imports, labeled "Made in Taiwan", and re-packaged by most distributors.

They are of very, very fine quality.

Yeah, the last set I got from Drag had those steel plates.

Nearly all cast OHV pistons will have the cast-in stiffener,
whereas forged will not.

(An exception were some 61" offerings from DIXIE years ago.)
