Well I used to live in that county and have a lot of friends there. What's the guys name? Maybe I can get you some info.

i live not too far away from there. what exactly would you want checked out just see if it runs and is what is in the pic or more detailed things? the ebay ad said buyer is responsible for shipping, if you are looking for help with that i might not be so much help.

Well, the fact that such a high-ticket item is up for bid as the owners FIRST ebay transaction of any kind might make you think hard on that one. Esp. if you are far away....

yeah i would definitely be cautious too but i just mean in the event i was to check it out and it was not a scam would there be any specifics the buyer would want me to check out.

Basher - I export high end sportscars and can tell you that the most important thing is to check the title of the bike. US Customs needs the title and a bill of sale and if there are any problems you will not be able to export the bike.
Should you buy it I will give you the info of my shipper who has transported several hundred vehicles for me without a glitch. They ship out of San Francisco/Oakland and can also pick up the bike for you.
I would be very interested to see the title because of the Delkron lower end. Are the Delkron numbers in the title? Is the title Special Construction? If Special Construction stay away from it as it is not considered a real Harley.

Usual stuff...........Original, clean title, condition, good starter/runner, re shipping i think i can deal with that.

This would be the first time i have imported anything, so excuse my ignorance, am i right in saying if the Delkrons are not in the title, i should'nt have a problem.

Do you have any idea of shipping cost too the UK?

I wnt to the auction and requested he call me so i can ride up and get pics .. so far no response .. heading over to San Mateo CA to the new MC show right .. will be back about 7pm and see if he calls my cell .. I kinda think he is a rookie and might of had someone list it on ebay for him .. hence the bad pics .. I hope he calls my cell I gave him
and it looks like it's a 3 day auction ... not much chance of it getting much traction in that short of a time....

Thats less than £5000 too my side of the water, the only thing you can get here for that is a Sportster.

Should they be?

It does not matter what should be. It is what it is. We don't know who issued the title and when. If the guy had the bike a long time and lived in California through those years and the engine rebuilt with the Delkron cases happened later you will find a California title with a Harley motor number that isn't on the bike anywhere. Would be hard to change ownership here in Cali. Your department of Motor Vehicles in the UK may go by the frame number only. I would ask them to make sure because otherwise you may have to match 2011 EU emissions laws etc.
For me the Delkron cases would be a deal breaker as the bike's Harley identity has gone and it is now just an aftermarket bike which are usually cheaper than this one.
