Up for auction is a Lucas Motorcycle K2F Magneto which was engraved by the legendary Kenneth Howard, aka Von Dutch, I believe this piece was decorated sometime during the mid 1960s, it came my way on a Triumph 650cc Motor Cycle Desert Racing Engine that had been prepared by Bud Ekins, Dutch was a good friend of Bud's and painted many tanks for him, it is because of this that I am sure that Dutch did the engraving on this Magneto although it was not signed or initialed but that was common on much of his work. I have shown it to a specialist on Von Dutch's work and he said that it is typical of Dutch's work.

I was expecting some really ghastly porn from the title of this thread. Imagine my relief to see this.

How much was this guy trying to get that it didn't meet reserve?

Too bad KH/VD never signed anything like that. I have a set of primary and timing covers from a T100 unit triumph that look like his work. Extraordinarily intricate designs, all symetrical, very nice work. Everyone agrees it is his work, but there is no proof.

Five bills and no sale? That's some reserve. I'll have to go check this out.

Does it "really" matter? I mean...i know this post is going to start a WHOLE mess of internet bantering, but when you buy stuff, in particular art....do you really buy it for "who" did it or how much you like it/because it looks good? sure there are some people that buy art just to say they ahve a picasso, but personally i wouldnt pay 30 cents for one of his ugly paintings!

same goes for that mag...i dont care WHO engraved it....could give a shit if it contained von dutch fertile semen.......I dont "like" the engraving....id probably pay "less" than what the magneto is worth. granted its a piece of history, i guess that makes it more vaulable, but i dunno..........

what the hell do I know....
