Anybody familiar with the Nostalgia Cycle Shovelhead motor?

I just picked up this ultra cool Nostalgia Cycle Shovelhead motor, but I can't find any history on it anywhere. I am kind of curious about some specs on it, where do I get replacement parts (or if it's just typical stuff), and what it's worth. Any help you guys can give me would be helpful. These pictures are not of my motor, but this is the same motor. Mine is together and running, but I don't want to tear it down just to see what's inside.

Looks to me like it might be a little hard to get a rotating assembly in there without a hacksaw.

Those cases split horizontally.

Now, do you want to give him the bad news or shall I?
at least the base gaskets shouldn't leak......
Why whould anybody make the jugs and case all one unit?

Are you talking about V-Twin/Taiwan Tedd/Nostalgia Cycle all being one in the same?

I believe that was made when Steve Iorio owned Nostalgia Cycle. Looks like it was either the pattern for the SuperVee or vice versa. Based upon the history of the SuperVee, if I had that shovel motor, I would take it completely down and check the tolerences, etc.

I dig the beefed up front motor mounts. I wish Harley's engineers would have thought of that...

I could be wrong about this, am I? I thought Tedd Cycle bought Nostalgia Cycle when it was going toes up.

Ok, I remember that thing, yeh, you dont have to wory about base gaskets leaking any more, but, you have problems with boring the block, it takes a standerd H-D flywheel assembly, but is split horyzantal, 82ci.......Like others have said, cheak for QC, it is not related to the supper V at all, use standerd shov parts.......Roach.

There shouldn't be any problem with a properly shimmed engine.

Anybody ever assemble one of these jewels? Looks like you would need 4 hands to get the rotating assembly in.

Nah, you build it like a ship in a bottle . . . with long ass tweezers and infinite frustration.

What do yo do, sleeve the cylinders when you're on the last overbore?
To get the pistons in, you must have the top casting upside down and somehow compress the rings on both pistons at once. Then, if the bottom of the bores is a circle and not some sort of a fish mouth, you have to get the ring compressors out. If it is a fish mouth, WTF?

Or am I missing something?

Ouch! That hurts man. I think it's cool as F**K. I still have it sitting here waiting to go in a "special" project. It's a nice motor. The history I found is that is was cast by Trachtenburg. Who's that you ask? Ummm, that would be STD. Interesting stuff. Has S&S and Jims guts. The castings are beefy, including the heads.

I wouldn't want to have to rebuild it because I'm sure it's a pita to work on the bottom end. But, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. I just dig the "uniqueness" of it.
How about some history on Nostalgia Cycle as a company. I remember having a Nostalgia Cycle catalog when I first got into this game about 15 years ago and it had some naked chics on afew of the "kit" bikes right there in the catalog.

I bought afew things from them. One time, the order showed up real quick, the next time it showed up about 3 months late and kinda jacked up my credit card in the process, so I didn't order from them anymore.

I've heard guys bad mouth the company before, but I don't know any history on them as a company.

I actually modeled my very first ground up build from a picture of one of there "kit" bikes in the catalog I had.
