amazing......... two CWI's looked that these same pix......... and they gave them the thumbs up

I suppose I can send this link to them and have you explain to them why they don't know as much as you about the subject

http://www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=176566&messageid=1125700050

better yet....... why don't you post some up close pix of your welding and not somebody else's
Haha, not my welding?? You must be kidding.. ask Velvet, or George at Spartan.. Being jealous and attempts at smearing are your strong suits though.. It wont hang here Jerry, you'll be gone before you know it. Plenty of people here know you and and about your tactics. Just a not-so-friendly warning, keep your bullshit on your own board.
Practice makes perfect Jerry, keep practicing and you will get the hang of tig.. its easy once you know how.

No that fine welding is mine........ post some of yours

I don't think I need to ask anyone........ are you or have you ever been CWI? Your pals you mention?

I wouldn't expect anything more from a guy that can't even measure a springer

Ahh, the rope lengthens. Look what I found on your very own site.. Great welds Jerry..

As for me being a CWI, no.. I can go one better.. Last couple years I was in the Marine Corps I was a CDI/QAR, and an instructor.. I know a little about quality.

I will go do a few welds right now, consider it a learning tool for you. Stay tuned.

well they are great autogenous root face passes with a less than machined fit up

overkill for the application and once the rest of the pieces were completed and added........fill beads added

good for a nuclear blast

now try and replicate those tiny beads Trent......

that half inch tubing is 40 thou wall and those allen heads you see are 1/4-20

fit up done by hand

doesn't matter....... you can't

and those were all even done on a transformer machine

did these within 30 minutes of ever touching a tig

Sorry for this guys..
I know pretty much everyone here knows Jerry and his different modes of blah blah blah. He caught me before coffee this AM. I wont drag it out anymore.

As for weld quality.. Your welds work fine for the stuff you do, thats all that matters.

I caught you? Looks to me like you caught yourself........ now drag this out and I'd love to see you match what I do anytime you are able

and I've raised the bar way beyond your bolt together builds

long ago

I know you'll respect, envy even, the next two coming together just as much as you have my flatty that got a front cover

and on it's own merit....... not because it pandered to any advertisers....... because it didn't pander to nary a soul with anything to sell.......

oh...... wait a minute....... it has a 25 year old Paughco springer on it and I forgot what brand brake shoes

now how often does that happen?

never for you and very seldom in the world of motorcycle magazines

good luck Trent and let me know if you'd ever like to borrow one of my many never been done ideas

because I've still got plenty I'll likely not find the time to use but at best I'd only share with you the concept so you'd need to brush up on some basic engineering skills....... because in my world ya don't just open up the catalog and bolt other people's stuff together........ and it goes far beyond making just a simple tab here and there

Holy hell! I just left another board to get away from this kind of childish bickering! I am not or ever claimed to be a good welder, but I'm pretty sure this board was not started so people could bash eachother. lame. period.

Well the only way to settle this is to post a picture of your dick next to a ruler to see who is the better bike builder/ welder/ poster.

All I can say is most of us here build bikes. Those welds look as good or better than most any factory welds, or even most custom frames. We aren't building pipelines or working on the shuttle.

I didn't "come here" to bash anyone nor did I "come here" to take any bullshit off Trent or anyone else.

I do what I do and I don't have to have one concern for promoting myself or my works.... because neither is for sale. I know that just grieves the hell out of many.

I don't however, mind sharing what I know and have learned the hard way with those who ask and are interested in learning because I am very fortunate to have many who are masters in their fields willing to help me when I need enlightening....... and that all stops when one stops giving back.

It's easy enough for any objective person to see what is smoke and what is fire.

Thanks guys.

That guy's stuff is bad. It's so bad I'm willing to take any of it his hands. Please have him send me anything he's got taking up space.

That board tracker was really ugly. So ugly it kept me up at night thinking about it. Tell George that KBD is ugly, so ugly people stare at it. It hurts my ears and right leg too :D

For the record, I'm the best JB welder on this board!

really good looking stuff and should be an easy sell to folks that wanna spend or have no desire to do it themselves

I'd say any frame designer would give the thumbs down to the headstock gusset on that frame...... it does however...... look damn good to the eye

but weld beads....... lens at 4 inches or so

steady hand

because you can't tell anything about those beads in that shot although I'm sure George is a fine welder/fabricator

I sure don't claim perfection

just hard to tell anything about those beads from that distance and there are some things that leave room to question them being perfect

like are those fisheyes or reflections?

are the beads flat?

for those that haven't ever tigged such a weld joint......a fillet.... it doesn't get any easier than laying in the rod and walking the cup straight down the line...... and with a pulse machine...... you can just about do it in your sleep..... one handed even

and a good cnc machined fit-up and whatever you are welding jigged...... sure makes it just that much easier so if you are hand fitting one off stuff and don't have the time or money to make a jig...... don't be discouraged if you blow a hole in something here and there or don't have a flawlessly consistent bead from start to finish....... in that respect...... the guys doing pipeline or NASA type work have things much easier than a garage guy whittling out one off or reverse engineered metal pieces by hand and eye

I have some robotically welded electron beam stuff and man...... it's impressive...... but far removed from the hands on craftsman

I do get a chuckle when I see internet threads saying how nice welds are when you can't even see them...... or one like this when "somebody" would attempt to detract from very acceptable and very visable unpassivated beads because...... well who really knows what's wrong with some people?
