Since I can't fo anywhere without my "stuff", I've got some old hardbags on my '77. The factory latches sucked, and I didnt have keys for them anyway. So I put these latches on. They latched ok, but had a tendancy to pop open going over bumps. For months I've been trying to think of an easy and convenient way to keep them latched. All I really need is something to go through the lock rings that will stay put. Locks would be nice, but then I'd have to carry the key with me, and they would look more hokey ass than what I have now. Plus, locks imply that there's something worth stealing in them. Then one day it hit me. A simple solution, using stuff I already have that will stay put and keep my lids on, but be easy and convenient to work around. Here's what I came up with:
