Trying to put a Fab Kevin caliper on my 77 FLH. It was kind of floppy... so were the 3/4" spacers I snagged from JP so that got me wondering WTF was going on... is this not stock?

Measures out to be 5/8"? not 3/4" ?

I'm pretty green at this so am I missing something? The stock parts were fine original boomarang bracket has a 5/8" hole with a very thin sleeve in it...

Thanks for your knowledge!

Always apply the "Rule of the 57". That means that with the older bikes, there have been 57 owners, or mechanical helpers, who have beat on, changed out, removed and substituted as many things as they did not understand. Therefore, your 5/8ths axle, THAT FIT, when it should have been a 3/4ers to be correct. You will run into this, on just about every old bike you work on. I have seen them with rods installed backwards, silicone head gaskets and toothpicks, to fix stripped threads. So your axle is not all that unusual. Just the wrong one, to be the correct one.
