Hey guys...

The ball bearings are shot in my 76 sporty. Notchy as hell! I've been debating between just tossing new loose balls (like most of you :)) in there and calling it a day or doing a timken tapered bearing conversion but I can't find any information on the timken part numbers?? I feel like I've seen full kits, then some sites say you have to buy them separate. Any help??

Depends on what YOU want to do. The bearings sell for about 15 bucks, the conversion kits are closer to 60 bucks. JP has the kit, pn 2300225, and that is the conversion kit. Or the balls, which are 5/16ths bearings available at any bearing store, or pn 230-541 from JP again. No, I don't work for JP.

The cups are different, and are not interchangable, so if you want timkens, you have to get the kit. The balls, last for a long time, so it is a matter of how much you want to spend.
