Nice. I'm partial to 51 pans.

Look great so far.

Kickstarts that is for an accesory choke that piece mounts to the carb , and the choke cable mounts at the dash like an early softail .
Nice job on the wheel, it looks round!!
Sweet. There are lots of unique things about the 51/52. I have an m-74 not B that I rebuilt that I may sell or trade. Love those cam covers too

It looks like you were rewelding or replacing the lower fat bob mount. I've got the same frame and that bracket is cut in half. Any source for the brackets?

V Twin has them and they are on ebay too.

48-52 Pans are my favorite.....

And to do a full on restoration to one in this day of "Chop or Bobbed" it, has big time merit going on.

That's a fairly intricate piece, do you know who made it? I've never seen one of those before, or never really noticed.

Made by H-D and sold as a factory accessory from '46 to the mid '50s. There is an adapter piece for cat-eye dashes. All '47 up dash bases are set up to accept it. If you look at the center stud you will see the hollow center with a reverse cut spiral thread. That is what the outer cable housing threads into. The bracket is sandwiched between the carb and air cleaner back. One of the hardest pieces to find is the choke shaft for the carb as it is completely different than the one for under tank choke!
It just never became popular and was dropped as an accessory!

Well there it is, I learned something before coffee. That's why I like it here. Thanks for the info.
Rubone, thanks for adding the last piece of the puzzle. The choke shaft is what I'm missing, and up to this point I didn't realize that there was a special one for this application.

Dinuns, keep up the good work! I've got a special place in my heart for the '48 to '54 FL and EL's.

Regards,
Geo.
