2 into 1 vs 2 into 2

I'm putting together an XS650 cafe bike, and have been thinking of exhaust variations.

I've asked around about the performance and sound differences between a 2 into 2 vs a 2 into 1 and have gotten mostly lame answers other than a 2 into 1 will have a bit more bottom end a midrange.

Any thoughts?
Here's the ones I'm looking at from Mikesxs.com

I would have to think that you'd see some performance gain with the 2 into1 one pipe, just by scavenging. Honestly, though, it all comes down to what looks better to you.
Sounds like there isn't enough performance to matter? Is it really just looks at this point?

Thanks for the replies.

2 into 1 will give better drivability at low speeds,
better drivability,and easier to tune.

Same thing with 3 into 1,4 into 1,4 into 2 into 1.

Individual pipes will sound louder, the same way dual exhaust on a car
will sound louder, even with the same reading on a Db meter.

Individual pipes will preform better on the street using smaller diameters,
longer lengths, with some sort of baffles, compared to some cool looking
short fat straight pipes.

But some will sacrifice performance just for looks.
2 into 1 it is. The XS is going to be low horsepower enough, so I'll take what I can get from the pipes. I'll probably try and find one with a reverse cone, rather than the megaphone on the one in the picture.

Thanks again
