If you are a new member, please do the following, in this order:
1) Read this whole thread, about our focus and content here.
2) Introduce yourself over on the intro board. Include info about your bike(s), your scene, your job, your projects, etc.
3) Read old posts to gain insight regarding what kinds of people and machinery call the Jockey Journal home.
4) Before starting your first new thread, use the search function of this forum to make sure that what you're about to show or ask hasn't already been posted a long time ago by dozens of other new members. This step is critical to avoid negative flaming, redundant posting, repetitive photo submissions, etc.
5) If you've done a thorough search of old threads and you still can't find what you're looking for, start a thread with a specific title that makes sense.
Good examples of this are, "WANTED: help with Ironhead transmission," or, "Biker event X in LA this weekend: who's going?"
Bad examples of vague thread headings include:
My bike wont start.
Cool bike.
etc.
The short, sweet tip to better living on the JJ is simply this:
Think twice, write once.
Also, see the Questions and Suggestions board for more site info, and use it for your questions about using our boards.

General posting rules -
This is meant to be a Tech-oriented board, emphasizing building and fabrication, along with appreciation of vintage and historic stock, racing and custom bikes.
Not about "lifestyle", politics, religion, new-motorcycle or dealership "news".
No posts or pics about Nazi regalia or its supposed history in the early biker scene.
Absolutely no nudity or porn pics or links. No drama, personal attacks etc.
No ebay, craigslist etc; ads or links to.
And no Spam aka sales activity on the board, by vendors or by members asking about buying or selling something in a tech thread.
This is not a sales site. We have Classifieds for individuals' used parts and bikes. A minimum of 50 posts are required before you can post to the Classifieds!
There is also the Jock Shops board for established contributing commercial members. Both those venues have clearly-posted rules.
Any interest in offering parts or asking about buying in Board-threads will be removed.
We offer a dependable Private Messaging system, use it.
