Default S&S Carb support pics help?

I know a lot of you guys run a S&S Super E or G and run a small filter or custom filter besides the tear drop S&S which has the bolt hole for the air cleaner support. Shovelheads of course.

I'm looking for ideas or pictures of how you guys may have fab'd a new support for the carb when using a small custom air cleaner.

Any help is appreciated. I did try to search but found nothing.

Thanks
B~

The strap brace from the top center case bolt, to the bottom carb manifold bolt is about as simple and supportive as you can get. That's what I use on Shovels.

I made mine the same way out of 1/8" stock with two hole drilled in it. Haven't run it yet, but it looks like I could hang laundry on the carb with no problem.

yup thats the best one to use works great

Vtwin sells them but they list them for a super B carb but they fit a super E carb just fine as well
ive run those on pans and shovels without a problem

and Im pretty sure S&S sells its own as well that is the same style Vtwin sells

Theyre usually like $20

mine was tricky because of this oil line kit i was running. i had to bend the plate to clear the oil line and still clear the jugs too. and the bend back in a different plane to line up with intake manifold. its funny little hidden detail but i was pretty happy with it.

Awesome! thanks for the pictures and quick responses. I am running a set of Ultima cases, so I don't think there is a case bolt in that spot. I'll look when i get home.

I broke 3 of those before I gave up on that option. I ended up building one out of angle iron and going from both rocker boxes to the backing plate with a couple of studs. Never so much as a crack and vacuum leaks are a thing of the past.

Keihin carb, but same difference.

Excuse the dirt, or don't, she's been parked for a while with an inner primary that is broken in half. Wheelies. Lots of them!

You broke several carb mount straps and the inner primary is broken in half?

Hmmm maybe you are doing something wrong?

I have this one already and was being used with my S&S tear drop air cleaner. But I'm gonna change the air cleaner and mount. So this won't work with the bird deflector air cleaner I'm looking to use.

i guess if you wanted more support you could double up the head bolt connection point similar to the angle iron idea... mine seems very rock solid how i have it (went with the nice band clamps) i dont do wheelies... got sport bikes for that shit..lol

I like your idea/picture you posted...that's all I really need is something to replace the original support....

Completely unrelated.

Unless by wrong, you meant beating it like a rented mule.

I went through the carb mount troubles right after I bought it.

The broken inner primary happened last year. Some 25 years into our relationship.

Wheelies. Lots of them. Its hard on parts.

Did I mention that I jumped it so high that it broke both shocks off? Foot pegs too?

Maybe I should have mentioned that.

thanks! it might require some fancier bends to clear the top motor mount that sticks down, but it is work in progress.

@CB550_Matt. I like that idea too. I may try that. Here's what I did for the time being. I have minimal tools to work with.
