Not as vintage as normal but its gonna be a traditional Xr Build with a twist that im gonna run on the street
After YEARS of searching for an xr750 Project i finally came across not 1 but 2 Xr750 Basket cases this is going to be an ongoing project with lots of pictures and lots of questions im hoping the knowledge here can point me in the right direction (you can all hate me ) So far what i know is the cases i got are 1991 1998 and 2001. Some of the Heads are Setup By Darcy Racing One of the Frames is a Knight Frame Sold by Mert Lawill ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Im hooked.
This old guy I knew grew up racing with Mert. He told me one day Mert came by after he was touring and let my friend take the "spare" bike out on a back road for a blast. Said he was in third rolling along at a good clip, shifted up and rolled on the juice....the front tire lifted as he rolled the throttle. Scared him and he was no joke either. XR750.... can't wait.

Cool, I'm finishing a WR for a customer right now, I've never had my hands on an XR though. It's the one machine I would really love to have for myself.

Man these things are just too cool, canīt wait for more pics. I once thought about building a poor mans copy with just a basic ironhead motor, and the right pipes + bodywork.
What kind of ignition setup do these bikes have, is it a magneto, CDI or what? |

insane yes, because they did not come with any brakes, so you should to take it to the track if you are going to ride it.
here is a pic of a street legal 1980 XR we built.... it's truly is a blast to ride.... ![]() and I'm building this 1970 iron head (no brake) XR750 for the same guy.... ![]()
