Default V twins springer

Any one remember what year V-Twin mfg. went from the European manufactured replica springer to the Asian one?

At least ten years ago. They were selling off their Samwel stock and still have some long ones on the shelf. As expected the short black ones sold out first and were the first to be produced in Taiwan. The first generation can be detected by the thick v-cut sleeve below the triple tree. The following ones are perfect reproductions except the casting numbers.

Got a couple on a couple bikes of both. They both work good. The later ones as mike said look factory perfect... no numbers.

Perfect for cutting up and no guilt!

The European Springers are made in Poland for a company named Samwel and are distributed through a German company named W&W Cycle located in Wuerzburg.
The V-Twin springers are made by V-Twin in their manufacturing facilities in Taiwan.

Herzlichen Dank vonW, I got this unused still tagged front end a while back and just wondered which one it was. Turns out it is the early Asian one with the heavy V sleeve. KP

I looked around at aftermarket springers and saw there was another Polish manufacturer than the manufacturer Samwel uses (or the same manufacturer was making them different aesthetically in a couple of ways when selling them independently).
The appearance of the brazed in sheet metal area on the lower tree bugged me on the Taiwan V-Twin and Samwell forks compared to OEM. The Polish forks I bought were finished off better, and more like OEM in the lower tree area where the sheet metal is brazed in. I was happy with the quality when they arrived. The photo shows an unpainted one, but they are available in black, which is what I got.
I got mine through "Custom Riders" / MoroSlaw Witkowski, in Poland. He sells on Ebay too, and with shipping was about $90 more than Samwel and V-Twin.
