Here's something I just fabbed up to give myself a little more carrying capacity.
I've never been one to like the look of full size bags on a Sporty, so I adapted some sissy bar bags with this bracket that bolts up to the sissy bar cross brace. As we both age gracefully, it's 37 & I'm 60, my high desert riding area requires a few more carry-alongs . This should help with that. ![]() ![]()

That looks good,,,in front of the oil tank. Evo oil tank shape and shock position just doesn't look right when trying to mimic an ironhead. I'm going to mate the back part of an ironhead frame, oil tank and battery box to the front half of my '92 to complete the early look.

Thanks for the compliments. I refurbished this machine over last winter. Here is a " before"picture.
Racepres--actually, the headers are OEM Harley ironhead pipes and the mufflers are aftermarket slash cut glasspacks which I found on Ebay. A number of Ebay sellers have them. They look nice, sound nice, and are inexpensive. If you type in slash cut mufflers on Ebay under motorcycle parts, you'll find them. Last edited by doc308; 10-25-2013 at 01:06 PM. |

Racepres--I just found a pair on Ebay. Type in "Cool Chopper Bobber Slash Cut Exhaust Red". There is also a pair listed under "Honda CB 350 450 slash cut muffler". As I say, they are pretty common.
The ony problem i had is the gasspack material blows out fairly quickly. I recently re-wrapped the baffles with stainless steel wool packing material. It's supposed to last longer--we'll see. |

So Very Close!! I'm wondering if an old Wagner master cylinder would go onto it?? One more "vintage touch" IMHO

Thank you,the guys on this site are geniuses. Including the engine upgrades Im into it just over 6 grand. I see Joe Hunts got a unit that fit these 5 speed models for $1100,can anyone tell me if its possible to run pointless ignition with mags? When I ride I like to be sure breakdowns are excluded from the equation, currently running a dyna with a capacitor in place of a battery. I always burn the lights to ease the regulator strain and thats been good to me for about a year but I think with a mag it would be that much closer to indestructible.

Here's my little Ironhead that I am putting together in my garden. Not sure what year it is as it started with an impulse buy of an engine on ebay. So far it's just a collection of parts balanced together but should take shape over the next few months. Obviously a Shiiiiit load of work to do and bit's to fab but it's a fun, cheap project so far.
