Default An Offer I Couldn't Refuse

Got a call from an old bud to come over and look at his new bike purchase (99 Softail). While looking over the new machine we were discussing the fate of his custom that he has been having trouble with since he bought it a couple of years ago.

It is a 74 Shovel that needs a thorough going over, 4 speed with an old Jammer frame. Clean title too.

He just wanted to sell it off as-is. When he told me $1500 I told him he could get quite a bit more than that! He listened and told me again "1500 bucks". So I did the right thing and dragged it home! I feel a bit guilty, but he was firm on the price. Might as well be an old bud getting the deal than a stranger, right? He was happy that he will see the bike brought back to life and improved at my place.

I always restore bikes back to original so this will be a big departure for me and should be a great time.

Lot's of decisions to make along the way. I will probably ditch the wide glide front end for a Sportster style or maybe a springer. Stay with the Fat Bobs or something else... Rear fender will change, for sure. But I got one hell of a start for dirt cheap. This will be fun!

I can speak for most of us here when I say "We hate you!"

No, really, Congratulations. It's a great deal on a great bike, which obligates you to do something great with it. Keep us updated.

Congrats man, you wouldnt even find a fram with wheels here in Sweden for that amount... Prices are crazy...

Seen a few rollers for sale (frame, frontend, wheels.. Maybe tank and bars if youre luckey) without title and they all go for atleast 2000$ !!!!

It is nice to see that transactions between friends like this still happen. So many people are out after the bucks that friendship goes by the way. Good luck with the project, we know it will turn out nice since we have seen your other rides!

Don't feel guilty, you helped out a freind with a problem, your a good freind. My buddy just went through a bad break up and had to get rid of a boat. Me being a good freind, took it - for free. Want to trade?
