Default 41mm Wideglide Axle spacer dims

Hey all.

Currently in the process of putting a 10" over wideglide on my UL. I've got the axle but no spacers, Could anybody kindly give me some measurements so I can machine some?

cheers!

Not enough information. It would help to know what year forks, or at least the range. Drum or disc forks? American made or Showa? what kind of a wheel are you running? Are you using a brake, and if so, what kind?

Hi Sir,

I'm not very well versed with the hydra forks, it's a 41mm, with the legs shaved. I've got early pan trees with the deraked neck.

I don't believe they're showa, the collars on the fork tubes are on outside? I believe they changed later on? I can't really offer anymore than that.

I have looked online but I can't find any sizes.

Are there vent holes on the sides of the top tube caps(one each on the sides of them)? If so they are pre 77 U.S. made

Math and measurements. Forks and sliders in trees no springs, collapse fork measure inside at axle holes in sliders, subtract width of wheel hub = total of space on both sides of wheel. Next measure offset of rim center line from both sides. Divide inside measurement of forks in half, then subtract rim offset for spacer length. Do both sides. Results of both spacers should add up to total of space on both sides of wheel.

That's basically what I did given the mix of sliders, hubs, discs and calipers I have. Did the same with the rear. Seems to track fine.

Thanks for the replies all! I understand the logic of what's needed I wondered if there were some standard sizes to save me a little time!

I'm having a nightmare getting the bronze bush into the lower leg. It's interference fit to the point I've been kicking the arse out of them to get them in.. One went in other is giving me serious shit.. I've tried to find online if there's a technique but no luck. Polished it and been hitting it.. must be an easier way!! thanks again.

The bronze collar on the tubes has no thread sir. There's no way I should be doing what I am to the poor bushing hammering on it but I know it came out of the leg as I've seen it running! Thanks for the input though Brandt..

They dont need threads. Slide the allthread through. Sammich a coulple washers and nuts on both sides. Turn nuts to tighten.

Wait.... you are talking about the bushings in the lower fork leg, NOT springer rocker bushings? ....never mind. You are fucked with out the tool or making one similar.

Although I did once think about trying a cam bearing install tool.

Don't know about your setup but my 2001FXDWG has spacers that are not the same dia. wide. How about centering the wheel then measure the distance from bearing to leg on both sides.
