Tweeking the ironhead, set it up in livingroom, yep im single, building a small business so kinda backburner status. Also a late 70s Honda has appeared on the horizon so cafe racer project for the back backburner.......

I'll give it a try. I'm kinda feeling my way along on this project as I go. The big picture calls for as large a shop as I can get on my lot while satisfying the city code boys and staying at or hopefully under a 30 grand budget. First step was seeing how big a flat site I could get on my steeply sloped side yard. I traded work on a VW for the backhoe work and took the money from a Dune Buggy job to buy 60 yards of dirt ($700).
Next step is to have some retaining walls poured and maybe pour the slab at the same time. But I can't pour the slab until I decide on what I'm going to build. Steel, block or stick built. I'm looking at plans and estimates on all of them and so far block is looking the best price wise.
Here's a couple pics of the finished rough-in. I can put a 60x40 on it with a 70x40 parking pad in front of it. Code is forcing me to have a 46' setback on the front so that's why I have to push the building all the way to the back of the pad.

EDIT: well, the pics i took of the finished site didn't come out so here's some more construction pics. I'll retake the finished pic tomorrow and put them up.

Mods: you can move or kill this depending on the interest in it.

lilbill, I guess the reason this interests me is cause there is"nt a guy alive that hasn't dreamed of that perfect shop , Not that my one car garage with extension cords draped thru the rafters for lights is not handy . In my mind I have always debated on the same issues as you are going thru , Like go with stick , steel or block construction . What type of footing and slab I would go with . I have even debated with how to heat this imaginary shop ,There are plenty of pros and cons to it all and naturally the dollar figure always weighs in pretty heavy . If I can give any advise, construct it for the long haul and do it in a way that it will increase your property value . Keep us posted

I'm slowly gathering parts for a pre unit digger. Hopefully next week I'll have the goods to at least hear it run and ask more questions about this elusive bth magneto

^ Whoa!

I'm about 3/4 of the way into my '54 T110 swingarm, and started a '52 Thunderbird.

But between working and my fucked-off neck, my progress is just too slow for a running build thread. I've taken a lot of pictures and I'll make one when I finish them.

It's getting cold out here so it's time to get the heat going in the shed and get back on my BSA chop. This will be my 3rd winter on it and I hope to get the motor running during this time. I have come a long way on it but have a longer way to go!

I've got enough parts at this point to start a build thread that wont last 6, long drawn out, months. So, I'll be posting a new build thread tomorrow on , yet another, Trump T120 long chop. Still waiting on my head to come back and I am sending out my rods to Dan at F&G on Monday, but aside from that the motor is ready to go together, everything has already been cleaned thoroughly, sludge trap sorted, etc. itll be a '68 front loop with TFMW bolt on hard tail, stretched 4", dropped 3", running a Harley 39mm narrow glide front on 21" front lace and 18" rear lace wheels. Thread will be titled "The Tardis" in homage to its deeply British roots as well as its Dark Blue paint that it will be receiving.

Here's my modest little "basement build". I'd hoped to have it wrapped up last May so I could start the net one but, like most, life (lack of $) slowed things down.

Speaking from my perspective, I seem to find myself using Instagram more and more.. I takes time out of my schedule to snap pics and post up on the boards.. Whereas I can just click a shot as I am working and post it in less than a minute (and have it go directly to my FB, Tumblr, and Twitter).. I rarely even read the boards anymore. I think the time of the internet board may have passed, seems that IG (and the other instant type social medias) have taken over?

I miss the days of interesting posts, but sure don't miss the shit that sometimes clung around the boards..

[QUOTE=Motor2Wheel;1570497]Still trying to figure out the picture upload.

I'm not sure if I posted this before, it's the "new" shop area I've moved into. It will work better since I'm the only one who works in here or has reason to be here in the first place. So, I can leave my stuff out and not worry about it getting picked up to be used somewhere else!

The weld-on is done and now I'm working on putting things together slowly. Will try to post some more pics of things, but have trouble getting anything worth looking at. I don't like that 2nd or 3rd party database stuff for keeping my stuff, so I just load it into my profile and link it to the reply.
