Default 37 Ford Wishbone for Frame!!!???

I've had this idea to use a wishbone from a 37 ford car for a single downtube and top tube for a frame for a while. These are basically a thick walled tubing like ERW that carries a taper from about 3 and 1/2 inch oval shape down to circular about 1 inch in diameter. Has this been done? Good idea or will it get me killed? Seen people using the axles lately for the downtube and top tube, so I thought why not use the wishbone. Like taking old car parts and putting them to use.

they have been used as Harley springer fork tubes extensions for over 50 years, I've seen the welds where they are joined to the trees fail but not the wishbone itself.

It's already "ruined" since I have already split it. I forgot about guys having used them as fork extensions on springers. Guess that means it would be stout enough for a frame. Think the taper would look bitchin since you can't get that look with plain tubing.

If the bone is in good shape it's more than strong enough..... Are you planning on drilling it as well? That could be a cool look

I'm not sure this is a radius rod or not, but it looks like it.

just stay away from the model A (28-31) and the 32-34 rods, they are less than half the thickness of the 35-40's. killer idea.

George (Spartan Frameworks) has been doing that for years. I built a Pan with one of those frames.
