Default Are you riding this winter?

Well, here goes nothing.. I was wondering how bikers & "motorcycle enthusiasts" are coping with the weather as the UK is gripped in Siberian - like conditions and it's giving me the hump (pissing me off) big style?
I rode the Matchless last sunday (8 days ago) and it was great to get out but it's been f'kin freezin every day since then (0 down to -6 degrees C)
Let's hear your winter 2010 riding stories good and bad..
btw if there's been a thread already I'm sorry (although I won't be getting a bollocking off Dragon sadly)

I ride 54 miles a day, luckily no snow, just nonstop rain for 3-4 months.

Washington D.C. Cops ride year round. They have a skirt that attaches to the crash bars and drapes over their laps to to trap the engine heat. Another cop pulled out of the station just before i took this last Thursday. Yes, in the snow. It was also 18 degrees.

In Arizona and the weather is nice enough for jeans and a tee shirt. Still in the process of collecting parts and honestly, winter in the "kitty litter box" is the best time to ride!

Missing the season to be on a Harley la la la la, la la laaaaa....

Anybody want to donate a bike? lol

Maybe combine this one with the "coming soon to youtube/insanely winterriding" thread? Just a thought

I ride as long as it's over 25*f and the roads are snow-free. This new stuff PA is spraying on the roads to stop snow from sticking/freezing is murder though.....pure corrosion.

I hate to complain about a good thing but I will give it a shot, the last few nights it has been borderline jacket weather, put one on you get hot take it off you get cold. I will have to re ask the question when it's 118 out so you can all poke fun at the guys in the desert.

Riding? Kind of...
I installed this NOS mini-bike ski kit on my 1969 Fox Doodlebug and use it to get to the supermarket when the roads are blocked:

If I had to "put my bike up for the winter", I wouldn't have a bike. I ride daily here in SC. Lowest temps I have ridden in this year have been mid teens thus far. No biggie. Just wrap up.

oh yeah the downfall.... when I was working at titan, the test rides were hell. I literally got wind burn on my forearms from the sun and the wind....

Every good thing has a bad lol

Not this year I'm staying in Arizona. March 2007 there was this young sexy redhead waiting for me in Oregon when I left. Late that first morning the Santa Ana's tried to tear me off the seat in the Mohave, then that evening I hit black ice just outside of Tehachapi where I stopped for the night. The next day a burned up the valley to Redding where I stopped again. Then when I was in the Oregon Siskiyou mountains I was caught in a blizzard and stuck between two semis till I saw a turn off at a Canyonville OR motel. The Dyna was so covered in slush and ice by then it was bigger than a VW. Just as I was getting my helmet off I noticed a HWY patrol officer walking toward me. So I was thinking here goes a lecture. He was all white looking and just wanted to see if I was real because apparently there were ghost sightings along that stretch. He said he had never seen anything like it in his 26 years out there. Yeah, she was worth it!

nice mag billy!!!

Hell no I'm not riding this winter! No explanation needed if you have ever experienced an upper mid-west winter, your shit would dissolve from right out underneath you.

i go a bit crazy if i cant ride... the winter here is pretty mild; just really wet and in the high 30s/low 40s most of the time.

the weather is fine; the drivers are not. it rains for months on end more than half the year, yet half the people on the road cant drive in the rain. i just dont get it.

the other thing i dont get: if we do get a dry/sunny day, its only when the scoot is broken.
