Default Triumph T110 Pre Unit Bobber Project

Here is my new Triumph T110 Pre Unit Bobber Project. It is still in the design stages but here goes. It will have some of the same design of my last build with a few changes. Here is a picture of my last build that sold last week.

The 'Black Chicken' turned out great and all, but since this one is a pre-unit, I can guarantee it will turn out better! For reals though, nice job on the bike.

Kinda cool how someone raised the top shock mounts to lower the bike. Looks early 60's Custom style.

please make an early 60's style custom! just my 2 cents but i don't think pre-units look very good with the more modern stylings...looking forward to seeing this build progress, the unit looks clean...

Yeah, looks like it. I am getting rid of that tail section.

It is going to be hardtailed and have a pre unit front end but will have a modern touch to it. Don't really care for the 60's style but thanks for the comments.

I finally finished welding holes and grinding the front frame and received the DB hardtail from Whtwter. These frames need a little foreplay before they line up right. Also I have noticed the front frame doesn't like to be tig welded so I had to dust of the mig welder. More to come! Still waiting on parts.

I think it has to do with the brazing process and the material used on the original frames. It seems like the metal is contaminated and blows snot on the tungsten.

When welding near the factory brazed areas you definitely have to watch as like you said, it will blow and pop braze right onto your tungsten and make little holes where you are trying to weld. I have had to grind some of that away so I could weld and fill it in. Up near the neck seems to be the worst.

Yeah, I think I will tig weld everything that needs to be welded to the hardtail and mig anything to the front frame. I wonder why it does that on the original frame? There must be something in/out of metal from then and now.

I didnt think about the Tungtsen I was using mig on mine already. There was alot of filler too by the neck like bondo atop the braise. I added a tank bung in the backbone where the headstock gets larger and I was afraid to keep grinding it didnt seem to end. That was on a an unmolested factory loop.
