Default Every now and then I hear someone asking if Robinson''s Harley Davidson is still open

The other day I decided to take a trip to the original Harley Store called Robison's Harley Davidson. The original owner and still owner Joshua Robison still opens the shop everyday just about for his loyal customers. It has been open since 1964. I am acquainted with his grandson so I asked if it would be ok to stop by and maybe take a tour of this museum type shop and look into the history it contains. I pulled into the parking lot to see pristine restored cars. So I knocked on the side door and Mr. Robison greeted me and told me to come on in. Right off the back I saw a knuckle and a panhead as I walked in. The shop is rich in antiques and Harley stuff that you may have never seen before like a Harley Davidson T.V. or just things that Harley made only a couple of over the years. I saw industrial tools that were gorgeous and in pristine running order. I saw pictures of history and race legends. Full fledge race bikes actually ran in daytona races from years back and on the beach lined the floors. Mr. Robison showed me pictures where he had led president Kennedy's calvacade with his bike club. Mr. Robison showed me pictures of his daughter who happened to be at one time Ms. Harley Davidson. I saw one off the original Buells that had actually been raced. Now as I said this is a shop. They still have mechanics and a full parts store not necessarily for your 2008 dresser but more like parts for an orginal pan, knuck, shovel, ironhead, evo. One day if you are in the area or even plan a trip to here stop by the shop. I'm sure Mr. Robison would love to have you drop by, just knock first. And if you are lucky he will tell you a couple of stories and show you as he describes it "his livelihood" and that is why the man is still going strong and still comes to the shop everday. There is even an area by the doors that says tools for customers to use. It is located on International Speedway Blvd. right by the train tracks. As the sign says "Robison's sales and service we'll be here to serve you always." And yes they have t-shirts too.

So what's his actual last name, Robison or Robinson? Since he can't spell "Harley" I'm guessing his sign painter might not have gotten the owner's name right either?

If he's not a current dealer, Harley probably didn't let him use their name.

Mr. Robison is one amazing guy, he'll sit and talk to you like he's been your friend for years. He's about blind now but he still knows where the pictures are and what they're of. I think he's especially proud of the one where he and his clubmates gave a motorcycle escort to a just elected John. F Kennedy.
He talks lamentably of HD's decision to not renew his dealership but he simply couldn't afford or particularly want to go boutique.
This little shop is a snapshot to the past and will remain an icon long after the 'Historic Factory' in Orlando and its ilk turn into ghost towns.

Go on Saturdays, he's usually there.

That's intentional, HD's got their claws on the proper name.

thanks for sharing misfit,
shops like this are becoming rarer everyday.
maybe the motorcompany hasn't pursued wiping the hd
off of Robisons shop, is because he is such a local motorcycling icon.
for now, score one for the good guys!! (Robison, that is)

I was just telling a friend the other day about Robinsons, I grew up around Daytona and can remember when Robinsons was the only HD shop around. The place is deff a icon for the way shops used to be.
