Hello Ravnur -

This is the only forum on which I am a member, however, as no one here has yet responded to your very good question, I will venture to say that another forum on which Dr. Dick resides will certainly be able to answer it fairly quickly. Sportsters seem to have a somewhat narrow niche following. Google "XLForum".

All the best,

Bolts right on and should have a slightly larger window for better oiling.

Use earlier OEM solid drive pin.
You can drill the case return to match the double hole -72 cast iron pump housing but it's not absolutely necessary.

The major oil pump change came in late 1976, to the modern gerotor type. Before that was the gear pump which should be the same, more or less, from year to year.

Get a decent gasket/ seal kit making sure you replace the shaft seal. Thrice check that the holes line up on all the gaskets. They are pretty similar between the early and 72ish type and easy to screw up. Ask me how I know.
Mind that the keys line up and the locking collar seats. If it's more than a slip fit into the motor, or there' a gap on the bottom plate, somethings wrong. Put down the brick.
Before you buy a used pump, check that the gears aren't buggered from dead meatal going through the pump and that some trog hasn't overtightened the threaded hole where the oil pressure switch goes and stripped / cracked it.
