Here we go again. My next project gonna be a Mud Turtle.
The original Flying Mud Turtle was featured in Easyriders February 1980 Calendar. ![]() ![]() Here is a pile to start with. My version will be different but still a "Mud Turtle". ![]() |

Agreed, two wheeled Milwaukee mud tractor wont fit on the gas tank.
Here is a before and after pics of the fender. ![]() ![]() I'm in no rush with this project, gonna chew the fat so to speak.... Next, i'll be removing the paint to see what the frame looks like under the bondo. |

Here goes some pics of the frame, I started to remove the paint and bondo somewhat... someone did alot of work on the frame to set it up in this direction, perfect for me. Looks like they buzz box welded everything. Also, my buddy Frankenstien put together a mock up motor to see if it will fit and it slid right in!

Things are moving along faster than expected. I just purchased the 61 motor with 4 speed transmission, clutch & inner/ outter primary, with everything. The motor is 86 ci, 4 1/4 stroke, 3 5/8 big bore, 485 Andrews cam.

I LOVE VL frames, I'm not sure I've seen a shovel in one, so this will be pretty damn good. I saw a 41 knuckle in a VL last year and it's probably my favourite bike I've ever seen, will be keen to see how this one ends up!!

^ I hope it doesnt stray too far from the calendar bike.... however it will have Harley disc brakes front and back, the frame has a tab in place for juice drum but its going to be nice to be able to stop this beast. Lets see... spoke rims, 16 rear 19 front with whatever tires to get it rolling but im interested in Allstate Dirtmans Tires for the Mud Turtle. Almost forgot... maybe Harley 3.5 split gas tanks with the t bar seat.........

Looks great man!! real good.
Well, didn't know Max was on here at some point, I see his bikes haven't changed much in how he likes to build them either. Is the mount on that VL frame on the down tube wonky or is it me? |

Its not you rhys, they put it on there wonky for some reason.... It will be ok though. I will make a bracket for the mousetrap eliminator to mount there if nothings in the way. The round oil tank from the cracked Motorshop frame should rig up on this bike about the same way it did on that bike so its all good, recycling parts!
