It's got a crack under the neck halfway around the down tube, good thing it has a gusset there. I'm taking it with a smile cause I found the crack before it broke all the way or even worse out on the pavement.

Here's my plan as of now. Use a different frame, oil tank and front end.

Have you thought of a Paughco? Especially when molded they got the look.

I'm thinking about a wishbone frame.

Last week I rode the bike to a friends house, parked it, then came back out to show them something on the bike when I noticed the paint up there had a slight crack/flake going on so I looked at the other side and it was the same thing. I got a screwdriver and scratched off the paint and there it is. I rode the bike home very easy....

This is my new frame & front end to switch everything over too. I'm going to put a Harley Breakout 21" black mag up front, other than
that not much should change but that's easy to say at the present time.

I'll try not to break this one. Here's another pic, I need to leave this alone & finish up the Triumph.

Please post any mods you do to get the break out wheel to fit. I have a non JJ friendly evo wide glide and want to go front mag with it.

No problem, You got it Pete. I've always wanted that front wheel after seeing pics of them. Usually with mag wheels either you love them or hate them. When I seen the wheel/rim in person a few days ago I did not realize how wide the rim is.... It's wider than my 18" rear rim and tire so i'm back on the fence about using it cause it might look like a steam roller....

I wonder what would cause that frame to crack like that right there? Just seems really odd. And the left side seems in a bit different location than the right side, at the sugar mill where I used to work we had special equipment to check out cracks like that, but the mill shut down recently, no access to equipment like that any more !! It should be repairable though, don't toss the frame....

I'm going to keep the frame here for repair some day, one less Motor Shop Frame on the road now. The new frame looks like a 49 so the 50 motor will be at home in it. The Springer is from a 45 with its 7/8 stem.

There is a good chance this will be used to replace the round oil tank...

^ Its very clean on the inside. ....Most of you know what the bike looks like but here's a pic for the thread if you don't. I'm gonna start stripping it down next week. Should the new frame stay orange? That is the question in my mind....

Daaaamn thats the first time I've seen the bike. I love single tube frames, that looks super sporty.
As a red bike owner, I say leave it orange! Its funky
