Im about to make a tab for the juice drum anchor, i know it needs to be 5/8" and slotted for adjustment, but how much does it have to be slotted by? also when the wheel where its gotta be, should the anchor bolt be in the centre of the slotted hole?

When the wheel is at the center point of it's range of adjustment, the anchor bolt will be at it's lowest point in the slot. When the wheel is at the farthest points, front or back, the anchor bolt will be at it's highest point in the slot. At the center of adjustment, the bleeder port, the axle center, and the anchor bolt center should be in line in a vertical line.

What M.O.Ther said. Here is a pic of an excellent tab added to a reproduction axle plate.
Fab work by 47 Industries.

That's the standard way of fabbing a mechanical axle plate to work well w the juice....you'll probably need to fab a spacer to fit between the anchor stud and backing plate.

John at Hardtail Choppers is casting these weld on ready juice brake tabs for factory style Panhead and Knucklehead axle plates.

Great info, I was wondering it that had been done. Nice to know that there is a tab available to retrofit to a juice brake.
Have to make a note of that. |

Maybe I am missing something here. But, a juice rear brake, has a single bolt anchor, and on all my round swingarms, it goes into a single round hole, and the assembly rotates as the adjustments are made. Now, on a manual rear, you have to have the slot, but in the forward position, so the brake can slide forward, or rearward, for chain adjustment. So, I must be low on coffee, or maybe my brain has finally quit working.

Hole in swing arm is oversize of the anchor it doesn't just pivot has some up and down going on. Slot or oversize hole both work.

OK, oversize hole was what I thought. Got it.

The tab I welded is vertically oversized so it can move with chain adjustment within that. Had to fab mine on!

I have several round swingarms. Two on bikes. None, have a slotted, or oversize hole. The hole is dead center of the adjustment slot for the axle. I actually went to the shop and looked at a 69 FLH I am working on. And it already had the rear wheel off the lift. The hole is slightly oversize to the stud in the backing plate. Maybe 1/16th, but probably less. Then, I looked at my spare swingarms. They all, have round holes, dead center, and when you adjust the chain, it goes from the front to the rear of the adjustment slot. Now, I am not saying I am right, and everybody else is wrong, but that all of mine, are like I described.
