i FINALLY finished building my 67 shovel and after riding it i can only say "meh". it rides ok, the motor is smooth and torquey, trans shifts like buttah but it just lacks the blow your skirt up fun factor i was looking for. soooo....... i've decided to blow it apart and cram everything in a raked rigid frame with a long frontend and see if i like that any better. so i went shopping in my parts stash and picked out a bunch of junk for the chassis.
![]() ![]() original plan was to run an extended springer but turns out it's tweeked and i don't feel like fucking with it so 10 over wide glide here i come. i'll just pull the complete frontend off the 67 and pop in some longer tubes i have. problem solved. biggest job on this build is going to be cleaning up the old frame and molding/painting it and the gas tank. (frisco mount sportster). here's the 67 as it sits now. motor is new from the crank pin out, fresh tranny, fresh brakes and tires etc. so all the running gear is done. just need a chopped roller and the fun can begin :-) ![]() this is duke. he approves of this project. ![]()

Jaws' jaw is gonna drop^^^^!!! Heck even I like it.... Buuuttt, I gotta tell you I loved the first incarnation the best. You really nailed it for me on that first one for me. Really wish it had suited your expectations, but this version is kick ass too. You build cool bikes. What ever happened to that loooonnnggg trike frontend??

I like them both so much. Now I can't decide. I feel like I'm at the diner. Shrimp salad on a croissant? Pancakes? Pot roast?

I approve! I am going through the same kinda thing. My daily rider's frame broke for the fourth time in two years and I'm tired of marathon weekend teardown/rebuild sessions to repair it. So I ordered up a new frame my welder plans to "Calvin-proof" when it arrives. Only thing is the stock rake and short glide was growing old on me... It was a blast to ride, but I need more fun... So the frame I ordered got a 40° rake and I'm machining up my own Dick Allen style super-narrow springer 8"-over.
I plan to do a build thread when things all start coming together finally. For now I've been taking pictures & fucking shit up. |

thanks guys. i probly have enough parts laying around to build six more bikes a dozen different ways. my problem is deciding what to build. i bet i mock up and tear down 4 bikes a month. not to mention VW's, a hot rod 40 chevy truck project, various cushman trucksters, customer builds, a few hummers and an old dirt bike. plus i'm remodeling my house and building a 3000 sqft shop. good thing i'm retired :-)
