Dont know what the hell motor I'm running yet, as they keep slipping through my fingers, but I started a new project.

Building it for Peoples Champ for Born Free 7, I guess the only advantage I've got is that I'm decent with CaD, so even though I've got no motor yet, I can still get to building stuff.

Going a little overboard because I want to try some stuff. Stainless frame, aluminum tins, no paint anywhere except maybe the motor.
Custom designed the front end, having a guy make me the triple trees, and hes also making the spoolie for the front.

Not sure if anyone here is into it, but I'll post it up.
Best part is, just like my last bike, my kids do a ton of the work with me.

Only a couple pics to get me up to date, but its taken a bunch of time......

Started with a steering neck

These will cover the backbone and downtube at the neck.

And made some axle plates
Still a ton of cleanup, blending and polishing to do on everything, usually sand and polish in the evening on the couch.

Well, I ran the tube roller until my callouss became blisters.....And then I had to enlist some help.
Got it tacked up flat, and temporarily tacked the neck on until I can hog it out a little on the lathe, Still need to grab a bigger bit because my boring bar is too big to fit.

Ran out of argon but got the last bar in, and cut a neck gusset. Needs a ton of welding and molding, but it should look good, and flow well.
Got a buddy of mine loaning me an Evo until I pick up my motor, and we got the motor mount jig most of the way done today, so this week I'll tack some mounts on, and next weekend we can make sure all my math worked.

Tossed the frame onto the jig and tossed the motor mount template on. Need to spend some time with a tape measure and straightedge to get everything lined up where I want it, and then I can get some mounts on before my mockup motor shows up.

Got my neck ripped off, bored out, and back on the frame with the second accent detail. Set the rake, and measured up for the motor mounts.
Working on that tonight, my buddy dropped off an Evo to use for mockup, so I should be able to bolt that up tomorrow........And last night during arts and crafts with the kids, I drew up my seat.........Now to carve it.

I actually home school my 3 oldest, so they do their work at the shop most days, and spend a ton of time on the tools when they're done. My youngest likes to get into the finer details, sanding, polishing and leather stuff. I really wouldnt have it any other way.

cool real life skills your instilling in your children.....these are all becoming lost arts,so its nice to see someone passing them along to a younger generation that can also appreciate them.. good for you...I'm going to show my 7yr old daughter this thread...as she is into art....and can appreciate the work I feel sure...maybe it will inspire her to come out in the shop more.....;-)

My last build isnt on here, but my oldest (14yo girl) learned how to run the lathe, drill press, and she can program basic code for the CNC plasma, and then run the table. Her and my boys (11 and 12) can run basic welds.....My youngest just doesnt have the height and hand control to do that yet, but all 4 of them can run air tools, and hand tools. They've been raised with wrenches in their hands, and honestly, its some of my most valued time.

I post a ton of pics of them running the tools, and I really do hope that it inspires people to spend time with their kids in the shop. My dad never did it with me, just not his scene, and I was always jealous of the other kids that got it. Now that I have my own shop, We spend as much time here as possible. And when they get their own project ideas, theres always scrap for them to experiment with.

It instills values, and morals, and they earn everything that they get...I refuse to raise delinquents.

Got at the mounts.........Awesome day. Tolerances are as good as I could have hoped for since I built it before I even touched a motor........Stoked about the fit.
I'm NOT running the EVO.........Just need to get moving on this.

Once everythings welded out I'll have to get some good shots of the mounts, they're actually layered and molded, should look awesome if anyone notices them.

My brothers in town, and he wanted to help, so the last couple of nights we've actually been hitting the shop, and getting stuff done.
Welded up the other axle plate, and made some threaded handle bar slugs. then tonight we got the jig set up and rolled some more tube.
Hoping to get the upper tubes in tomorrow. they're going to take a little more work though.

Days like today make me feel like I accomplished a lot.
Got the rear upper bars in, cross bar and upright........They're much more complicated than they look, hopefully its worth it. Hoping to get the frame welded best as possible tomorrow, and cut some trans mounts, then pull everything apart for clean up and polishing before I start on some tins and wheels.

I spent some time doing tedious welding and blending tonight, gonna pull it off the jig tomorrow so I can hopefully finish it out, but while I was working, my boys made me a stash tube plug for the end of the backbone.......
With any luck I'll have some front end stuff in a couple weeks, and if I make up my mind on a rear wheel, I could have a roller by christmas...
