I'm happiest when I let the madman run amok.

Well madness is spending ten/twenty or more hours making/modification a part, and getting it done and not liking it, putting it on the self, letting it set for a year or more, then pick it up again to "fix it," maybe with the same results.
And never regret, "wasting the time" doing it.
That is what most people consider mad, and most of us in here thrive on it and get enjoyment from it.

The solution is to never put it on the shelf.
I have about 20 hours in the MC alone. 20 hours on a $25 part. I could have worked a day of overtime and bought just about any mc on the market but, it wouldn't be mine. Enjoyment indeed.
Much of the stuff most people will never see or notice, but I do every day.

I normally think sporty tanks ruin a bike, but the lines on this one make it work. Keep up the great work!

Funny how that works.... I've never been a fan of sporty tanks. When I started this build I planned on a narrowed, lowered mustang or a Wassell style peanut. I tried both and wasn't fuzzy about either. I had a sporty tank that I got from a friend so I slapped it on to see and at first I didn't like it. Out of curiosity I started cutting and welding on it and the more I worked on it, the better it fit. Now, I can't imagine it with any other tank. There are so many angles, shapes and dimensions that just plain fit. Seems like from just about any angle you look at the bike you see something that matches the tank.

Thanks Loffer.
This build is in my basement, I'm normally not much of a slob either but to keep the peace with the wife (keep the grief about $$ at a minimum) I have to be a little extra clean.
I added your blog to my faves, love that stretched Trump! Seems we have similar tastes in machinery... and (ahem) women.

Thank you Tony, high praise indeed.
Your companionship on this ride has kept me honest. Oh, and I may need your help picking a color. I've been agonizing over it for several weeks. As much as I like red, I feel metal colors (blues, silvers, greys) when I look at it.

Cheers my friend.

I don't want to clutter up your thread so I'll edit these back out.

Type into goggle image some color combinations.
Like "ice blue" "silver grey" titanium" "blue metal" "nipple pink"
Bam. Exactly what I was thinking! Nipple pink?

I'm feeling this a little:

Falls into the "ice blue" area. Not sure if I want to go solid, or fancy it up a little with some lighter colors.

I like the idea of nipple pink. Although not for a bike color. I just like thinking about pink nipples, well really not just pink nipples, I like any color nipples, and of course I'm talking about girl nipples, not guy nipples.
But seriously , I have to agree with the rest , you've done a really nice job with this bike, should be really fun to ride when you get her done.

Thanks KC.
I'm having a little difficulty googling "nipple pink"... for some reason I don't recall seeing any paint in the results and the wife is pissed at me.

Always been a fan of the brown ones myself.... easier to see in the dark.

Whenever I look at chrome I see the blue sky in the reflection, maybe that's why I keep thinking blue for this bike. Silver clouds and blue sky.

Awesome build bro! You must have spent an ungodly amount of time polishing all those parts. Anyway I like the red color you were originally gonna go with, I think it will look kick ass with the black powder coated frame. Are you planning on leaving just the solid color or are you gonna add some type of graphics, maybe flames, pinstripe or other effects?

Aye, Der Dopplers paint is spot on. I'm still torn on solid or. I've been looking for a paint job that grabs me either way. I'd like to have some sort of stripes, either in graphics or pin stripes.
