Default 74 shovelhead oil pump

hey people i could use some help, i have a 74 shovelhead fx 1200cc, on thanksgiving morning 2012 to be the last ride of the year for some of us in mn. it was 45 to 50 deg, im running 50w motor factory oil, ran the bike fairly hard on a cold motor, stopped at inlaws to pick up more riders, when i started bike 10 min later there was a lot of clattering up top end trailerd the bike home, turns out my woodruff key sheared off, any help on what eles to look for things that i should replace ect would be great help, both drive grear on oil pump and mating gear on crank show signs of wear, do i need a new pump or can i rebuild, all the pumps ive seen say that you have to drill a hole in your crank case, the thought of drilling a hole in my crank case does not sound good to me. or can i find a OEM pump

i don't know what set up you have but i've worked on old shovels that still have drop in filter in oil bag and oil bag would be full of sludge chain filings from primary or ? i'd check your oil bag and douche it out, all that shit will go straight to pump. did you take pump apart and see if something jammed it

Sure, I was a teenager, but still...

The "oil bag" thing, there were a few Triumph circles where if you used that term, you got berated.
