Default The "Anywhere but Here" Build Thread

After seeing so many amazing builds on here, I figured its time I start posting some pictures and such of my current build. It's a '67 Triumph TR6 that my dad rode back in the '70s and '80s. It was parked in my grandpa's barn since 1982, and I was finally able to get my hands on it last summer. My goal is to have the thing rideable by September for my woman and I to ride off on at our wedding (chivalry ain't dead).

I used a leaf spring off a snowmobile for the seat mount/suspension.

Man, they were pretty bent and I needed some scrap tubing... There's still a throttle side left.

I'm currently in the process of rebuilding the engine. I need to have the pistons and cylinders checked at my local machine shop and am waiting for funds to buy bearings, valves guides, big end bearings, etc. I was able to buy Wes White's video though, and that thing is amazing! He makes everything so clear and simple. So, whilst the funds be low, I shall do something free... Polish 'til my fingers bleed.

Also, does anyone have a reason for using a monobloc over a concentric Amal, or vise versa?

Thanks for the info, Roach. The bike came with a monobloc, so I'll just use it to save money. I was just making sure they're good carbs since I see everyone going crazy over the concentrics.

Well, if her dad was paying for ANY of the wedding... The bike would already be done.

My girl is pretty old fashioned, so she expects the door to be opened for her, but I don't mind

Anywho, here's what I did for mounting the battery eliminator and coils. I kind of "borrowed" the idea from some of supercrouton's builds. But should I be worried about vibration on the coils? The eliminator will be mounted on rubber bushings.

Micro update: I got the sludge tube and retainer plug in the mail yesterday, so I did the first step in engine reassembly. It wasn't much but it was still exciting as hell!

Also, I was thinking about ditching the drag bars and going for something with a little bit of rise. Maybe some tracker bars or some mini apes or something. I had these laying around and threw them on, and they were way more comfortable.

I spent the weekend working on the bike, and finally managed to build a decent work table that I can wheel around the garage. I also got the bottom end, timing side, primary drive, and gearbox put together. I'm still waiting on the cylinders and head from the machine shop. Also, the gearbox wasn't as difficult as I had originally thought... Probably because Wes White makes it super easy in his video. Anyway, hopefully I'll have the head and cylinders back this week or next!
