Hi,Scout,

Yes, part numbers are different, but the last WRs like yours ran the same metric ball bearings as early KRs, so they can't be much differences in the hub itself, apart from spacers and axle.

Since the wheel sprockets are the same, WR or KR xx xxx-47R or -48R, one can assume adapting a KR rear hub to a WR won't be an insurmontable challenge.

Patrick - this doesn't address the OP's question, but maybe you know. I'm very curious to know why Harley would use metric ball bearings over 70 years ago. I'm not old enough to remember first hand, but I didn't realize the metric system had even made inroads into the US that far back. Any ideas?

Don't really know about the WR, but the KR is deffo full of metric bearings from the start... Same for the K/KH wheels, metric as well, 17 x 40 x 12 if I remember right, DIN ref 6203... 2 x on front wheel, 3 x on the back.

KR engine ball bearings are 25 x 52 x 15, DIN ref 6205, on the crank mainshaft, 25 x 47 x 12, DIN ref 6005, on the crank timing side, HD Race Dept told you to mod the sprocket crowded rollers and machine the case/shaft to fit the 25 x 52 x 15, KR cams spin on 9 x 24 x 7, DIN ref 609...

Extract from KR parts book(… I like the prices!!!...):
