Default Why won’t this work

I’m at my whit’s end. 79 cone/alt shovel, 59 pan frame w/rigid conversion. STD cased ratchet top 4 speed with 70-85 12.5” mainshaft. Regular trans plate. Late 60s shovel juice brake. Chain lines up, belt does not. BDL doesn’t know. Mystified.

Well...

Your front sprocky looks very far from the rotor in that photo you have taken. Most of the ones I have ever dicked with sat much closer... like, if you misalign the belt a little, it will rub on the rotor.

Is it possible you have a rotor with the spacer built in and ALSO the factory shimmy/spacer thing in play at the same time?

And do your fucking intro.

Assuming you have a belt that fits that mix of parts (install belt to verify it fits first! ) your local machine shop should be able to narrow that front pulley to match the basket.
