Cool Re: 49 triumph bobber rebuild

I prefer chrome pipes myself but black pipes have their place and even high temp silver. Anything but wrapped pipes which turned into a regular style nowadays but may be on its way out finally

Cool Re: 49 triumph bobber rebuild

On an iron head, those studs are 1/4 x 26 CEI.

Here's an excellent source of info on British threads.

Today i thought i sort out charging system
Original owner wanted it to be a battery and no charging system
but i wanted a charging system so bought a sparks alternator with mounting plate, this won't fit my application as i have no inner chain case .
Also 40mm Newby drive was a problem so got pulley reduced for a 30mm belt and i just ordered 3 T120 alternator studs and im almost there(a little ally welding tomorrow and drill other mounting holes and she's gonna be sweet!!

Oh yea forgot anybody got any smart tips for marking blind holes accurately (apart from painting surface with grease, paint etc or like when you make a gasket,i thought about studs with point on end line up and whack it,but is a bit of an epic ,i want it spot on)

Why? you doing something similar or you know something about hot stainless?
i saw a bike on exhaust thread was sort of charred black different colours
bird was sitting on it might be stainless? i had stainless exhaust on classic range rover but never looked at it near manifold.
