I built a knuckle last year, but I had to try another two-wheeler.This time with more home-made parts....that means more fun and lower cost.
Engine from a NSU car and Nimbus transmission.Put it together and started it a few weeks ago, just before the winther came.Nice sound in the engine and feels fun to ride.Going to dismantle after christmas and put some paint on the thing. Was thinking of olive green or dark brown??
If it were mine, I'd paint it either a dark maroon with cream coloured rims, or a dark blue with pale yellow rims. this would give the bike the look of a Henderson or an Ace.
What a beautiful, beautiful, freaking beautiful piece of work! Brown might be nice...or ever think about a deep shade of red? In any case, this bike is a work of art no matter what colour it gets painted. Bravo Zulu!
Inspiring work for sure!!
But I would be worried about the angle of that drive shaft bro. and the wear it will but on those u-joints. Don't get me wrong about your build , because it's sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just see a future issue with the angle of that drive shaft.
The u-joints are capeable of handling 35 degrees. I think they can get hot when riding for awhile.Seems to work,so far,but you are probably right.Going to keep them like this for now,and move the rear wheel down 2-3" if they cant take the stress...
MADS4 was the kind guy to sell me one of his clutch housings,so that I could make this thing work.Similar kind of engine as he used in his ALMA.
I have a few construction shots, somewhere.I can see if I find them...
absolutely beautiful. i'm just blown away by the craftsmanship and engineering i see coming out of norway and sweden these days.
now if only you guys could come up with a language that the rest of the world could pronounce
That is simply awesome! You could always use double H cross u-joints on either end. If they don't take too much length. Would love to see more close up details of this bike!
Thanks for the comments.Had a few more shots of the bike.
Under construction photos were taken with my cell-phone only and sent to a friend of mine.He could mail them back to me,if he found them..
Total cost for this project is ca. 3500 usd.
