Ill vouch for Knuckleworks ( also known as Cycleworks ). Phil does all my engine work and has always been up front about everything as far as pricing and time. Your shit wont get lost in the shop for years or be double the quoted price before discussing it with you. He also produces the best left side cases available.

I have asked random cops to run VINs for me when I see them in a diner or coffee shop. They have never said no, probably not the best check in the world, but if it was stolen it would come up. Just say you were looking to buy it online and wanted to check the numbers beforehand, just in case.

Ga. Will run the #s through NCIC/GCIC.. if it's been REPORTED stolen it will show up. As stated prior.. most DMVS workers are only doing what they need to do, no more no less. I went to regester my 68 triumph... the lady behind the lexan said, "the vin # is incorrect", i replied .."no it isn't" and went as far to re-show the vin verification done by an Officer and a photo of the #s.... she again said " it's wrong"..after dealing with this persons stupidity, I asked "why is it wrong?"... she says (no lie)... "there isn't enough numbers or letters".
