Amal 389 on a Triumph 350cc
The past few days i have been rebuilding the carb on my Triumph t21 350cc. When I pulled it off I realized it is actually an Amal 389/203. The strange thing is the bikes came out with a 375. I asked the previous owner about it and he said the motor had been bored out to maximum capacity and that the carb on it is the one that has always been running on the bike.
Just wondering if anyone has experience with big carbs on a 350 triumph and also if it will run fine? Most of the local triumph guys are telling me it's too big for the bike and will never run properly.
Any feedback would be good.
Building a bike, not attitude.

It'll run properly enough if it's jetted right.
If the previous owner really did the max and used a 500 barrel,it could be bigger than 500 cc.Some tricks involved, but not too difficult.
What you've got should run OK if it's 500cc.
If it's closer to 350,try something smaller. You might increase the low rpm torque and lose nothing.
