Default Weekend project: Hard tail

I finally got my hard tail for my Triumph. My dad and brother hooked me up for my birthday. I’ve spent this morning disassembing (cant spell) my bike and of course finding all kinds of shit is broke or wore out. The major problem is that who ever had this frame before me, welded on some weird ass back section. I’m going to have to cut all that off top and bottom then grind it back down to the original frame. So much bondo. I’ve sent 45 min with a wire brush grinding it off. Any way I’m knocking off for lunch but here is some photos of what I got going on so far. Oh and check out my white trash plate setup.

Looks like a job well done so far. The dimensions on the tail section look perfect, keep it up!

i thought I was the only one who throw all the tools on the floor while I'm working instead of putting each one back at time as they are used...

when the project is done, then I pick them all up, you too, ehh?

Weekend project in now on its second weekend. I was just going to try to put the hard tail on real fast then put it back together. But my new chain is still on order so I decide to pull the whole thing apart and start over. building on a bike with no money is a challange. I got the guys at the metal shop across from my studio to weld the frame. Traded them a family portrait session so it didn't cost anything. Snaked a bunch of primer from my dad and paint from my friend randy idol.

Sweet looks good. Frugality is a beautiful thing sometimes.
